Where and how did the people of Nice live? How did they coexist with winter visitors? What was the population of Nice like? What did the port look like? The old Nice, Garibaldi Square, or the Promenade des Anglais? What were the circumstances and conditions surrounding Nice’s transition to France for its population? … These are some of the topics that will be addressed through images during this conference.
The speaker will be Louis-Gilles Pairault, Archivist Paleographer, Heritage Conservator, and Director of the Nice archives, co-author of the book “Le Choix des Couleurs” about the lifestyle of the people of Nice in 1860 when Nice became French, along with Alain Ruggiero. Louis-Gilles Pairault published “Le Choix des couleurs, 1860: when Nice became French” in 2010 with Mรฉmoires Millรฉnaires Editions.
