Left-wing associations are calling for a gathering at the Basilica of Notre Dame.

A few days after the terrorist attack on October 29 and on the eve of the national tribute that will be held on Saturday morning, a number of associations, movements, and left-wing parties are calling for a gathering this evening at 6:30 PM in front of the forecourt of the Notre Dame Basilica.

One motto: Liberty, Equality, Fraternity, and Secularism

This blind barbarity that struck our country and city gave rise to a profound sense of horror. Yet we will not join the pack that always demands more security excesses, more liberty-restricting measures.

Instead, we are advocating for a Republic that serves the population. A Republic in which the police and intelligence services have the necessary personnel to successfully carry out their missions: to protect the population. A Republic where the National Education system is given the means to teach and where the same access to knowledge is guaranteed for Everyone. We are advocating for genuine public services, in their diversity. We will not behave like criminals, we will not behave like them.

Let us remain united and proud of who we are and assert our republican values.
