On the occasion of the legislative elections, the activists of Amnesty International France issued a call to candidates, asking them to commit to 10 key recommendations to strengthen the protection of human rights.
This awareness operation for parliamentary candidates aims to give greater importance to human rights in the political agenda of future members of the National Assembly. It also aims to inform voters about the commitments made by candidates but does not, in any way, serve as a voting guide.
The mission of parliamentarians to represent the people and monitor the government makes them regular interlocutors of Amnesty International France.
At the local level, activists solicit them to ask oral or written questions to the government, to relay recommendations and concerns during parliamentary debates, to propose amendments on bills or proposals, and to approach institutions.
Members of Parliament can thus be significant allies in advocating for fundamental rights and public freedoms in France.
These recommendations follow the publication of the “Manifesto for Human Rights.”
