Legislative elections in Alpes-Maritimes: end of the “totalitarianism” of the right

Latest News

The hegemony of Les Rรฉpublicains and their UDI vassals came to an end last Sunday during the first round of the legislative elections.

In three of the nine constituencies in the Alpes-Maritimes, their candidate was eliminated. A first in a long time!

In the remaining six, they will face “marchers” in 5 cases and the FN representative in 1 case.

This Sunday evening, will there be more “republicans” defeated?

The only candidate who was able to sleep peacefully last night is Marine Brenier, the protรฉgรฉ of Christian Estrosi. Her mentor skillfully and prudently negotiated with En Marche to ensure the absence of a Macronist candidate against her. Once again, the mayor of Nice demonstrated his foresight: the 18% obtained by an independent candidate clearly indicated there was cause for alarm.

Marine Brenier is therefore largely favored against a solid FN candidate, but whose chances of victory are minimal against the electoral organization of the mayor of Nice and president of the Mรฉtropole.

In the other constituencies, uncertainty is the norm. Much, if not all, will depend on the behavior of FN voters and whether or not they transfer their votes to the right-wing candidate.

The most risky situation, it seems, is in the 6th constituency where Nathalie Audin has nevertheless opened up a significant lead over her opponent, Ms. Trastour-Isnart.

Finally, last but not least, the “mother of all battles” will take place in the 1st constituency where Eric Ciotti is threatened by the young lawyer Caroline Reverso.

In this case, it would be surprising if FN voters penalized a candidate who refuses the anti-FN front of the republican front and whose ideas are akin to their own.
