The second round of the legislative elections disrupts the beginning of Emmanuel Macron’s second term.

The head of state suffers a major political setback: Ensemble! wins a relative majority against the Nupes, several of the president’s loyalists are defeated, and the RN achieves a historic score. Far behind the threshold of 289 seats needed to secure an absolute majority, the executive will be forced to negotiate on each reform to be able to govern.

According to the results from the Ministry of the Interior, which compiled the seats by political group, the presidential majority Ensemble! will have 245 deputies in the National Assembly.

The Nupes wins 131 seats.

The Rassemblement National secures 89 deputies.

Les Rรฉpublicains secure 61 deputies.

The miscellaneous left deputies will be 22.

The regionalists obtain 10 deputies.

The miscellaneous right obtains 10 deputies.

The miscellaneous center will have 4 in the Assembly.

The UDI accumulates 3 deputies.

There will also be 1 sovereigntist elected.

Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne spoke after the announcement of the first results: โ€œWe will work from tomorrow to build a majority of action, there is no alternative.โ€
