Legislative elections: towards an Assembly… En Marche

Latest News

La République en Marche is set to secure a very large majority in the National Assembly.

Following a first round marked by high abstention (50.2%)*, this movement would obtain between 390 and 430 seats, a number above the absolute majority (289 seats). The other major parties are left with crumbs: between 85 and 125 deputies for The Republicans/UDI, 20 to 35 for the Socialist Party and its allies PRG/Divers Gauche/EELV, 11 to 21 for La France Insoumise and the PCF, 3 to 10 for the National Front, and 7 to 12 for other parties.

Emmanuel Macron’s party and its ally MoDem obtained 32.3% of the votes in the first round of the legislative elections.

This score, close to the latest opinion poll, puts them ahead of the The Republicans-UDI alliance (21.5%) and the National Front (13.2%).

On the left, La France Insoumise (13.7%) slightly confirms its leadership over the Socialist Party, but achieves a score much lower than that recorded by Jean-Luc Mélenchon in the first round of the presidential election (19.58%).

The Socialist Party suffers an unprecedented defeat.

The Communist Party garners 3% of the votes, as does Europe-Ecologie-Les Verts (EELV). Debout la France, the party of Nicolas Dupont-Aignan, receives 1% of the votes, and the far-left 0.8% of the votes. Other political parties obtain 3.3% of the votes.
