Lenval requests additional resources for children.

For the sixth consecutive year, the LENVAL foundation launches a traditional information campaign targeting taxpayers subject to the solidarity wealth tax (ISF).

Since its inception, Lenval has been dedicated to children. This status grants it the mission to receive all children, regardless of financial resources or religious or national distinctions.

Each year, children without any social security coverage, whether they reside in France or elsewhere, are welcomed and cared for by the Lenval teams. This philanthropic spirit, which is the basis of Baron de Lenval’s work, has received continuous support from all the residents of the Riviera since its establishment.

Thus, thanks to donations and bequests made to the Foundation, the Lenval premises have been progressively rebuilt over the past years. It is indeed due to the generosity of the people of Nice and the Riviera that the Foundation has been able to grow from the original two beds to its current structure.

Since 2008, a law allows donors to deduct 75% of their donations to a recognized public utility Foundation from their taxes, thus benefiting from this generosity.

Riviera residents subject to the Solidarity Wealth Tax (ISF) can, if they wish, aid sick children on the Cรดte d’Azur through this Foundation, which has been close to them for more than a century. Hence the theme of the 2014 campaign: “My ISF for our children.”

After the 2013 campaign, the Foundation equipped itself with a new radiology room (digitized radiology with very low doses for the spine and lower limbs) of the EOS type. Last year’s donations also facilitated multiple purchases of equipment and materials: 8 drip stands, 2 syringe pumps, Activity room equipment for Caravelle’s day hospital, 2 wall mounts, Shower trolley, stretcher trolley + IV pole, psychomotor structure, UHCD TV network installation, 8 Philips 26” LCD TVs, 4 computers + 1 printer, 6 blood pressure monitors, Ureteroscope, Monitoring system, etc.

The goal of the 2014 campaign is to raise one million euros for acquiring necessary equipment for the Pediatric Neurosurgery unit. Annually, between 50 and 60 interventions are performed in this unit. The population base of the Nice region necessitates maintaining this activity in Nice.

The investment is justified on the one hand by the interactions of pediatric neurosurgery with other pediatric specialties (primarily, emergency reception) and on the other hand, by the distance to the nearest pediatric neurosurgery center.

Moreover, creating a dedicated unit within the pediatric surgery department will allow for better regional visibility and thus an increase in recruitment, as some patients currently escape local recruitment. The distance of 200 km from the nearest pediatric neurosurgery center (Marseille) also argues for the maintenance of this activity in Nice, the 5th largest city in France.
