Frédéric Colomb and Mickaël Chanoyan arrived at the Archet Hospital in Nice this Thursday. They left on May 22 from Saint-Malo by bicycle to raise awareness about pediatric cancers. Their respective sons, Pierrot and Léo, passed away in 2017 at the ages of 18 and 15.
They traveled nearly 1,600 km from St Malo to Nice, passing through the largest university hospitals in France. To thank them for choosing Nice as their final destination, the mayor of Nice, Cristian Estrosi, personally came to congratulate the two men on this extraordinary accomplishment. He described the gesture as an “incredible initiative” and also took the opportunity to thank the medical staff for the tremendous work done so far.
The two fathers, accompanied by their wives, explained that nearly €10,000 has already been raised. This sum will be divided into two parts: the first intended for research in the fight against cancer, and the second to help families with travel expenses in particular. A very touching initiative that was supported by cycling teams from the region.
A big congratulations to both families for their courage and for this beautiful journey that will remain in the memories and hopefully advance the fight against this deadly disease.
