This Thursday, September 18, nearly 400,000 people are expected from all corners of the country for the inter-union action day. Will this new demonstration surpass the “block everything” movement of September 10?

Eight days after the “block everything” movement that gathered nearly 200,000 people, this new call for a strike and demonstration promises to be more significant than the previous one. Tomorrow, disruptions are expected in several sectors following the call from the unions CFDT, CGT, FO, CFE-CGC, CFTC, F.S.U, Unsa, and Solidaires.

Education, public health, and transportation will be greatly impacted. In the Alpes-Maritimes and mainly in Nice, only one gathering is currently planned. It is announced at Gare Thiers at 10 am. In the city center, apart from the disruption of transport lines and the parade led by unions, no other event is expected.

Which sectors are affected?

The bus and tram Lignes dโ€™Azur services will be heavily impacted by this strike. No tram will operate in the capital of the French Riviera, while buses will be seriously disrupted. In total, 38 routes will be greatly disturbed. The TER Zou services will also be affected by these disruptions. No trains will run between Dignes-Les-Bains and Nice.

The education sector will also be part of the strikers following the call from CGT ร‰ducโ€™Action 06 for a “massive and lasting mobilization to impose the demands of the working world.” Teachers had until September 15 to indicate their participation in the movement.

On the side of the public health sector, pharmacists are calling for mobilization. Since this summer, they have been gathering to oppose the draft law proposing to reduce the reimbursement of generic drugs.
