Liberté Chérie Nice Côte d’Azur rewards the Mayor of Saint-Laurent-du-Var for his management.

The Liberté Chérie Nice Côte d’Azur association will present the 2012 Eco-Pol Prize to Henri Revel, Mayor of Saint-Laurent-du-Var, Vice-President of the General Council, and Vice-President of Nice Côte d’Azur, on Wednesday, July 4 at 6:30 PM, at the town hall of Saint-Laurent-du-Var.

Henri Revel thus succeeds Eric Ciotti and Richard Galy, becoming the third political figure in the department to be honored by Liberté Chérie Nice Côte d’Azur, an association that advocates throughout the year for taxpayer rights.

Liberté Chérie has decided to reward Henri Revel for the sound management of the municipality he governs. Indeed, Saint-Laurent-du-Var is one of the municipalities in the Alpes-Maritimes with the lowest tax rate, and this rate has been decreasing or not increasing for years.

In 2011, the municipality generated a budget surplus of 5 million euros, which did not prevent the local government from funding numerous projects or structural developments (e.g., dojo, video surveillance, villa Chanteclerc, rugby stadium lawn, etc.) and from enhancing initiatives to improve quality of life (e.g., nurseries, children’s gardens, youth activities, etc.).

Initiated in 2010, the Eco-Pol Prize aims to annually reward a department official distinguished by good economic and political management.

In 2010, the trophy was awarded to the President of the General Council of Alpes-Maritimes for a 61 million euro budget savings plan that he implemented with his majority within the departmental body. In 2011, it was presented to the Mayor of Mougins, who managed not to increase taxes for 10 years while launching numerous projects.
