This Sunday, OGC Nice hosted Angers, as part of the 15th round of Ligue 1. Once again disappointing, the Aiglons suffered yet another defeat this season (0-1).
Win to recover or definitively sink into an endless crisis! After an eventful week, OGC Nice returned to Ligue 1 this Sunday, with the ambition to finally reconnect with three points. Lacking inspiration and confidence, the Aiglons had lost four consecutive games in the championship before facing Angers at the Allianz Riviera. And things were not going to get better!
In a sparse stadium — the Populaire Sud had decided to boycott the venue until further notice — OGC Nice almost had another scare early in the match. Just a minute into the game, SCO forward Chérif missed the first opportunity for Angers a few meters from Yehvann Diouf‘s goal.

For this match, Franck Haise‘s men chose to wear jerseys with the names of Jérémie Boga and Terem Moffi. The two forwards had been particularly targeted during last Sunday’s incidents. On the field, what we witnessed was a true festival of technical mistakes by the Aiglons. Amidst whistles and full of doubt, Ali Abdi‘s teammates struggled with their football basics.
The low intensity offered by both teams didn’t manage to liven up the match on either side. And as often this season, it was the Gym that conceded first. After yet another ball was recovered by Angers in the Nice camp, Yassine Belkhdim finished a beautiful collective movement by SCO (0-1, 33’). Speed, forward runs, quick passing, technical precision: all the things missing from OGC Nice.

To make matters worse, the Aiglons found themselves down to ten men after the break. Following a nasty tackle, Tom Louchet prematurely left his teammates. Understandably, Angers, in their numerical advantage, focused on controlling the pace of the game. The rare reactions from Nice were much too timid. Too little to hope for even a draw this afternoon.
Alone against the goalkeeper, Isak Jansson missed a huge opportunity to revive the Gym. Shortly after, the returning Tanguy Ndombele could not beat the commanding Hervé Koffi. Despite a slight reaction at the end of the match, OGC Nice succumbed to Angers (0-1). The Aiglons suffered their fifth straight league defeat, seventh consecutive across all competitions. The negative spiral continues on the Côte d’Azur, and the Niçois are sinking!
The next match is on Thursday, December 11, for the Gym. In a Europa League campaign where their points tally remains at zero, OGC Nice will host Braga. Hopes of qualification have already vanished. What is at stake are the honor and pride of the red and black. Kickoff for the match is at 6:45 PM at the Allianz Riviera.
