Lynda Lemay, whose heart has been split between Quebec and France for nearly twenty years of a career highlighted by hit songs, wanted a return to simplicity, to the obviousness of songs with strummed or arpeggiated chords that everyone could play:
“My musical signature is the guitar, to which I pay tribute here. This album is a bit like a debut album, but people will find me just as they have always known me. I am proud of it. There is something unshakable in me, I am not too easily influenced. I am more mature at 40 years old, but I am still the same girl as always, there is something in me that does not change” (in Version Fémina 24/12/2006).
With her sixteen new songs, all penned by her, she addresses mothers around the world (I’d Like to See Your Face, A Mother), returns to childhood (Your Name is Marguerite, The Last Choice), and questions her destiny (We Threw Away the Rings). This is an album where she gives, and offers, a true return to the roots with her voice. She tackles many themes and moods, true to herself, with tact, delicacy, and without an accent.
On stage, her show “It’s Just Wood” (also a tribute to her favorite instrument) is an intimate performance. The beautiful Canadian is accompanied by her fellow guitarist Yves Savard.
Immediate public success… Since the start of her tour on February 2, her dates have seen exceptional enthusiasm. Her four Parisian shows at the Olympia in March are already sold out for a long time!!
