The site visit conducted this Thursday morning by the President of the Nice Cรดte d’Azur Metropolis, Christian Estrosi, provided an update on the construction of tram line 3.
Metal train cars on the ground, Allianz Riviera in sight, workers bustling around, and construction machinery in contact with the asphalt. This was the scene that greeted Christian Estrosi this morning during his visit to the tram line 3 site, which will eventually connect the airport to Saint-Isidore.
The laying of the tracks is almost complete: out of the 7 km route, only two sections (in Nice-Mรฉridia and further away, arriving at Allianz Riviera) remain unfinished. The civil engineering part of the project is scheduled to continue until next May: once all the tracks are laid, they will still need to be stabilized with a layer of concrete.
The first tests on the line are planned for September 2019, with a launch scheduled for the end of next year.
The six stations along the route (Mรฉridia, La Plaine, Les Arboras-University, Eco-Parc, Stade, Saint-Isidore) will be identical in every way to those on line 2.
By starting the work earlier than originally planned, which was scheduled for after the delivery of line 2 and subsequently moved forward, โwe have saved 26 million euros,โ Christian Estrosi proudly noted. โA tram will leave Allianz Riviera every three minutes on match nights,โ Christian Estrosi also stated.
