This book of interviews with the president of the Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur region is, above all, an assessment of the social and political situation in France.
Throughout the questions from journalist Maurice Szafran and Christian Estrosi, a seasoned politician, the responses sometimes slip, are evaded. Christian Estrosi’s first election dates back to 1983 during the municipal elections of Nice. Then, as a general councilor and president of the Department, deputy, the career of this elected official is ascending, reaching ministerial responsibilities under the presidency of Nicolas Sarkozy. Today, after being the mayor of Nice, he is the president of the Metropolis NCA and president of the PACA Region.
In these interviews, he defends a liberal and security-oriented policy. Although his diagnosis of the state of our country is not wrong, he offers us remedies that are already outdated.
The Internet revolution was, is, and will be, like that of the printing press, a total upheaval of our society and economies. Everything has changed, and the economic situation is different with globalization. The equation of consumption and production is outdated. The machine, the robot, replaces the human being.
As a skillful politician, Christian Estrosi, as they say, muddies the water. This book of interviews is very well-written, lively, and dynamic. One will regret the incessant remarks against the FN and the record of the left. This wasn’t really the subject.
The debate would have gained relevance by being more neutral and with less ‘me, myself and I’.
One of our university professors explained in public law: “It is not by criticizing the opponent that you will win, but by proving that your thesis is the best.”
Everything must change! A trendy phrase whose advantage is its lack of precision, allowing everyone to interpret it in their own way.
