Created in 2008 during Christian Estrosi’s first term as mayor of Nice to further involve society in the strategies and decisions of the municipal majority, the Consultative Municipal Council officially presented Philippe Pradal, the new mayor, with the memorandum “For a Forward-thinking and Supportive City.”
The result of a year of work by the various commissions includes 34 projects, 16 of which have already made progress.
This privileged tool of proximity is highly useful for expressing and communicating the sentiments of civil society, from which its members are drawn,
“It encourages reflection and proposal, far from political stances,” says its Vice-President Tahar Saiah with pride. His words were echoed by Philippe Pradal: “It is an exercise in democratic breathing.”
At the conclusion of the session, Philippe Pradal and Tahar Saiah exchanged the Charter of Participatory Democracy, developed by the thematic commission chaired by Dr. Hervรฉ Cael, which formalizes “the values and principles to promote better living together in Nice.”
