Long live Italy! at the Cinémathèque

From April 26 to 30, the Cinémathèque of Nice is honoring Italy with “Viva l’Italia!”. On the occasion of the commemoration of the 150th anniversary of Italian unity, the Cinémathèque presents a selection of films representative of the new Italian cinema, in collaboration with Filmitalia.
On Friday, the 29th, there will be a special evening with the presence of directors Piergeorgio Gay and Gianfrancesco Lazzotti:

6:00 PM: Screening of Niente Paura,

7:30 PM: Meeting with the directors (free admission),

8:30 PM: Dalla Vita in poi, previously unseen in France. Selection of films and presentation of the evening by Giorgio Gosetti, film historian, critic, author, and festival organizer.

Films to discover including 4 premieres:

– Happy Family by Gabriele Salvatores, between absurd theater and cabaret, the director unveils the secret spirit of Milan and northern Italy;

– Dalla Vita in poi by Gianfrancesco Lazzotti, a romantic comedy;

– Niente paura by Piergiorgio Gay, a documentary on Italy’s identity, told through the tour of a rock star;

– La Passione by Carlo Mazzacurati, a humorous portrait of an unusual Italy.

And finally, Amore by Luca Guadagnino, a lyrical and ambitious fresco, nominated for the Oscars in 2009.
