Louis de Funès, the exhibition

Latest News

The work of one of the greatest comic actors of French cinema will be celebrated at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes.

From July 14 to August 21, “Louis de Funès, the Exhibition” revisits the hundred roles played by the actor, whose successful films are regularly watched and re-watched in France and around the world, loved and shared by five generations of viewers.

This exhibition highlights and deciphers the sources of inspiration and comedic mechanisms of Louis de Funès, particularly through his slapstick genius of observation that led him to the top of the box office at the age of 50.

This exhibition is an invitation to discover the actor in all his facets through a collection of nearly 300 works. Among these, one can find the 2CV from The Sucker, the DS from Fantômas, the Queen of Spain’s dress in The Mad Adventures of Rabbi Jacob, and the costume of Rabbi Jacob… as well as photographs, paintings, drawings, sculptures, period documents, and film excerpts that make you want to watch all these great classics again.
