Lucien Favre is back (official)!

Latest News

The Gym supporters had been waiting for several weeks; the Swiss technician is officially back in Nice.

Since the first rumors of Christophe Galtier’s departure, only one name was on everyone’s mind to replace him: Lucien Favre.

Having been with OGC Nice between 2016 and 2018, the Swiss coach had left his mark on the Gym with flamboyant play and a remarkable second place finish during his first season.

In the summer of 2018, he had the option to leave the Côte d’Azur to join Borussia Dortmund and return to Germany where he had made a name for himself with Hertha Berlin and Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Almost exactly 4 years after his departure, Favre is back at the Azurean club to successfully lead INEOS’s project. The president of INEOS and owner of the Gym, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, expressed his joy at this return.

“I am absolutely delighted that Lucien Favre is joining us. He is an experienced coach, who has found success in the Bundesliga, as well as here in Nice. Everywhere he has gone, he has garnered respect and admiration. We are fond of his way of evolving his teams and it perfectly aligns with the vision that we at INEOS have for the style of play we want for OGC Nice.”

After leading the professional group’s training this morning, the new coach of OGC Nice signed his contract. His new assistants were also announced; they are Arjan Peço and Christophe Moulin, who will accompany him in this new venture.
