As last year, for the 1st Nice Solidarity Days, Niçoise Cuisine will be in the spotlight with the morning starting at 10 am with the qualifying rounds of the Niçoise cuisine competition themed around: “petits farcis niçois” (stuffed vegetables Nice style). 12 candidates, previously selected based on their technical sheet and photos of their recipe, will present their stuffed vegetables to the jury in hopes of qualifying for the grand finale in front of a live audience in the afternoon. The jury will make their selections blindly, ensuring complete fairness among the candidates.
The lunch break will offer a delightful Niçoise Cuisine meal prepared by Chef Philippe Bouchet, his teams, and Les Ratatouillettes, as well as a few local chefs and enthusiasts who will contribute their personal touch to the menu.
In the afternoon, the four selected contestants will be revealed and will participate in the grand finale in front of a live audience. For this, they will have access to a pantry with all the ingredients for a quintessential Niçoise dish, naturally with many traps and false friends. Once they have chosen their products for two plates (with waste being closely monitored), they will have 30 minutes to create the dish in the most traditional way first, and then another 30 minutes to prepare it according to their personal style using exactly the same ingredients. The goal is for the dish to no longer resemble the traditional version: a true reinterpretation!
The judges will be able to examine the candidates’ techniques, taste their seasoning, evaluate their choices, and then proceed with the tasting to determine who will be the grand winner of the competition. Numerous prizes are in store with the City of Nice, OGC Nice, Socca Chips, Socca Biera, and many others.
To register, it’s simple: just send an email to cuisine.nicoise06@gmail.com with your name, surname, date/place of birth, and phone number, and you will receive a technical cooking sheet to complete and return to us along with 3 photos of the recipe (empty vegetables, filling, and finished recipe). The 12 candidates who submitted the best technical sheets will be contacted by email for the morning qualifying phase.
A grand raffle with amazing prizes will also be organized in support of the association “Constance, the little astronaut warrior” and a partner village will also be present with Les Franjynes, Socca Chips, Socca Biera, Galets de Nice, and many others.
