Jean-Baptiste Andréa, for his novel “Ma Reine,” is the winner of the 2019 Azur Book Prize.

He received this award from the hands of Eric Ciotti — “The book is a cultural pillar, it is an opening to life that we must defend and promote!” — in the presence of Jean Siccardi, patron of this literary prize.

The other finalists were “Aucun répit” by Pierre Brocchi, “Dix-sept ans” by Éric Fottorino, and “Tout un monde lointain” by Célia Houdart.

This prize, created in 2013 by the Department of Alpes-Maritimes, aims to highlight writers originating from the Alpes-Maritimes or who have a connection to the area.

Its distinctive feature is the method of selecting the finalists and designating the winner through reading committees and a jury in participating libraries coordinated by the departmental library.

The selection was made from novels published in bookstores in the current year or the previous year.
