Magical Saltimbanco at Cirque du Soleil in Nice

Latest News

A true live performance, “Saltimbanco” brings together musicians, singers, and artists on stage. Together, they dazzle the audience with apparent ease and great professionalism. The remarkable production by Franco Dragone leaves nothing to chance: every part of the stage space is occupied, and there are numerous interactions with the audience.

The makeup and costumes by Nathalie Gagnรฉ and Dominique Lemieux are very colorful and inspired by the Baroque period. The spectators undoubtedly appreciated “the riders” and “the masked worms,” characters that seem to have stepped straight out of commedia dell’arte and the Venice Carnival. Most artists have three to five costumes that can contain up to twelve pieces.

The music by Renรฉ Duprรฉ is a major element of this show as it accompanies and enhances the acts. The very Rockโ€™Nโ€™Roll percussions and electric guitars give way to the magnificent voices of the two singers.

“Saltimbanco” is above all a circus show, where acts are linked together, interspersed with vignettes featuring recurring characters such as “the sleeper,” the mischievous blue clown, and “Eddie,” a jester with the demeanor of an eternal child who performs a memorable mime act. As for the “Baron,” he will be your elegant guide throughout the show. The traditional acrobatics acts are beautiful (trapeze duo, bungees). The hand-to-hand acts and the Russian swing remain impressive. Lastly, note the very surprising number of boleadoras.

There is still time to rush to see Cirque du Soleil and admire this magnificent show!
