Manuel Valls confirms to Rudy Salles the creation in Nice of a Priority Security Zone.

Rudy Salles spoke to the Minister of the Interior during the discussion of the security mission’s budget. On this occasion, the Deputy of Alpes Maritimes asked the Minister if he confirmed the creation of a Priority Security Zone in Nice, as he had committed to a few weeks ago.

In response to a question posed by Deputy Rudy Salles, Manuel Valls replied that Nice had a level of crime that justified priority security zones, the announcement of which would be made soon.

Rudy Salles insisted on providing the security services of the Nice metropolis with the necessary means to deal with a worsening situation that endangers not only the population but also law enforcement officers.

“I welcome this commitment from the Minister, which is good news for our fellow citizens,” commented Patrick Allemand, president of the Changer d’Ere Group (municipal opposition).

Patrick Allemand’s statement

I welcome this commitment from the Minister, which is good news for our fellow citizens.

However, it reflects the failure of the security policy led by Christian Estrosi since his election in 2008. Nice, the only city in France to have a First Deputy in charge of security, Nice which has multiplied surveillance cameras, tasers, and decrees banning this or that, is forced to call the State for help with its new Priority Security Zones (ZPS) system.

It’s an admission of failure!
