Every year, on March 8th, millions of women and men around the world celebrate International Women’s Day.
As part of this day, Christian Estrosi, Deputy Mayor of Nice and President of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, wishes to highlight and honor the elected women of the Metropolis and the city of Nice, the women of the Community Advisory Council, the Sustainable and Proximity Development Council of the Metropolis, the female mayors, female business leaders, athletes, representatives of neighborhood committees and associations for their civic engagement and their work in serving others across the most varied fields of our territory.
Through this ceremony, which will take place at 12 PM at Villa Masséna, the President of the Metropolis aims to pay tribute to all the ordinary women who have played an extraordinary role in the history of women’s rights and to encourage those who today have the same goal.
In the afternoon, it will be Eric Ciotti, President of the General Council’s turn to honor women involved in the civil security missions of SDIS 06 and the women of the General Council.
A day to recall the commitment of women within the Department. They work in all sectors: administrative, social, medico-social, cultural, or technical.
There are 2,906 women employed by the General Council of the Alpes-Maritimes, representing more than 61% of the total workforce. The rate of female representation in management reaches 54.7%.
Spotlight on the women of SDIS 06: 535 women firefighters, both professional and volunteer, including the health and rescue services, serve daily under the same uniform as the men of SDIS 06, for the benefit of the inhabitants of the Alpes-Maritimes.
Also on March 8th, the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis invites twenty-eight women, members of six associations from Nice’s priority neighborhoods, to visit the archaeological crypt for free.
The archaeological crypt in Nice, located beneath Garibaldi Square in an underground space of 2,000 m², is comparable to the Louvre crypt, particularly due to its historical and heritage interest and its arrangements for the general public.
The archaeological crypt of Nice was classified as a Historical Monument in the spring of 2012 and was inaugurated in October 2012.
