The star host will also continue to present the “Millionaire” from Monday to Friday at 12:50 PM.
It’s a busy start to the season for Marie-Ange Nardi!
Nice-Première: Who is Marie-Ange Nardi?
Marie-Ange Nardi: That’s honestly the hardest question one can ask. (Laughs)
N-P: You mentioned in an interview that you are a paradox. Why?
M-A. N.: (Smiles) The only time I must have said that is when I realized that I gave the impression of someone very serene, very reassuring, for whom life flows smoothly and quite seamlessly. But in reality, I am someone who is filled with stress and anxiety. So, I tell myself it’s quite strange to be so tumultuous on the inside and project such a smooth image. I must be a paradox!
N-P: Does this image make you vulnerable?
M-A N.: No, that’s not exactly the right word. (Smile) Sometimes, I wish people could perceive this inner turmoil a little more. But I think it’s me who cocooned myself with this surrounding. I’m a bit like wounded animals when I’m not well. It’s not something I share with others. So indeed, I have this well-constructed image around me. I don’t want to bother others with my problems. And also because I think this profession requires you to present a good image, it forces you to overcome anxieties, at least while you’re in front of a camera because that’s not what you should give to people.
N-P: What would 24 hours with Marie-Ange Nardi be like?
M-A N.: It really depends on the days and times. Right now, it’s very much about my little boy (smiles) who turns 3 at the end of August. He has filled my entire life. It’s true there are many things that now seem a little meaningless. I tell myself Hugo is waiting for me at home, so let’s hurry back! (Smiles). It’s wonderful. It took me quite a long time to have a child because I thought it was all going so well that it scared me. And I wasn’t wrong. (Laughs). It’s true, for me, it’s everything. So, a day with Marie-Ange, it’s funny to talk about yourself in the third person (Laughs), is all about watching for the first signs of the baby in the morning. There are times when I work, so indeed you have to draw the curtain and tell yourself he’s with the nanny, she’s taking good care of him… I call often. Otherwise, in work, it’s a lot of interaction with people. But when I said earlier that I’m a paradox, I don’t play a role. I’m well with people, I’m quite happy with the feedback they give me and the perception they have of a rather nice demeanor.
N-P: People appreciate and follow you…
M-A N.: Yes, that brings me enormously.
N-P: And when they meet you in the street, what do they tell you?
M-A N.: They are extremely kind. There, I recognize that I’m very lucky. People have very positive, very friendly, big sister or little sister reactions (Laughs).
N-P: It’s true that you’ve entered homes and become part of the family.
M-A N.: Once, a lady wrote me a letter. One of her sentences stayed with me because I found it really beautiful, and it was really great when you’re in this profession: She said to me, “You fit in so well at home.” And that’s where I’m happy. There is a strong friendship and emotional connection with the audience and that’s very good. It nourishes a lot.
N-P: You often host game shows.
M-A N.: Luck leads you through life… Why? In this profession, they tend to, when you start a program that’s impactful, decide that you are that. I believe that hosting is a comprehensive profession. In games, I feel quite good: it’s light, entertaining, there’s a relationship with people who aren’t regulars on TV. I don’t want to do a too serious program, to provoke something in people they might regret or make heavier. Through this profession, that’s not what interests me. I want it to be positive. The game ultimately suits me best.
If the game is part of her professional life, the one that enriches her days and lights up her eyes when she talks about it, is called Hugo: A little one who has turned her life upside down!
