Christian Estrosi, in an interview with the local daily, harshly criticized his opponent in the Municipal and Metropolitan Council, accusing her of lacking the sharpness of a native of Nice compared to the UMP candidate – and native Niçoise – Agnés Rampal.
As easily predictable, Marie-Christine Arnautu, who will most likely be a Member of the European Parliament starting next Monday, responded in the same tone.
This is setting the stage for some great verbal clashes during the six-year mandate.

In today’s Nice Matin (editor’s note: yesterday), Christian Estrosi, true to himself, and with his very particular sense of humor, revealed his striking argument to encourage our Niçois compatriots to vote UMP on May 25.
A compelling argument in his eyes, no doubt: “his” candidate on the Southeast UMP list would be more credible than I because I am, it seems, more often in Paris than in Nice.
Which is rather amusing coming from someone who much prefers to strut in the capital for his career plan than to concern himself with the problems of our city….
As he did throughout the municipal campaign, the Deputy Mayor of Nice tries to make people believe that he is not to blame for the economic and social decay our city and our country are in.
And yet! Vice-President of the UMP, former Minister of Industry, affiliated with his mentor Nicolas Sarkozy, he has a crucial and undeniable responsibility for the disastrous immigration policy led by his friends, for the deindustrialization of our country, and for the insecurity our compatriots face daily.
With the polls showing the National Front ahead of the UMP on the evening of May 25, Christian Estrosi gets lost in gutter arguments. While verbally calling for the return of national sovereignty, he continues in his acts and votes in the National Assembly to sell off France’s independence.
The women and men of Nice made the National Front the primary opposition force against a megalomaniac mayor by giving it 21.11% of their votes during the municipal elections.
To deliver a strong rejection of the austerity plans imposed by the European Union of Brussels that undermine your daily life, to regain control over our laws, our budget, and to curb this devastating immigration policy, all endorsed by Christian Estrosi, increase the National Front’s score on the night of May 25.
