Marie-Christine Arnautu sanctioned by her own party

Latest News

Marie-Christine Arnautu, vice president of the National Front and a long-standing member, was suspended this Monday for 15 months from her leadership roles within the executive board for “serious misconduct.”

The cause: her participation in the gathering at Place des Pyramides in Paris on May 1st in honor of Joan of Arc, organized by Jean-Marie Le Pen. An event that was in competition with Marine Le Pen’s event at Place Saint-Augustin in the 8th arrondissement.

The period of exclusion is expected to coincide with the next party congress, scheduled for the fall of 2017 or winter of 2018, during which the party’s leadership could be renewed. “We’ll look on the bright side. I was able to say what I had to say. I still find this sanction profoundly unfair, but I acknowledge it,” responded Christine Arnautu.

Does she plan to legally challenge this sanction? “I’ll take the summer holidays to think about it,” she added.
