Mario Balotelli remains in Nice!

Latest News

This might be THE good news of the Nice transfer market; the Italian striker has extended his contract for two years. A good catch for the club but also for the player.

His signing had been anticipated for several days. It is now official, Mario Balotelli will once again play under the red and black jersey. Sought after by Marseille and Dortmund at the beginning of the transfer market, Super Mario chose continuity.

He allows OGC Nice (and Ligue 1) to keep a talented player and, above all, a star. Good for the image, but also for the spectacle. The Italian scored 15 goals in his first season in France.

Two years of contract is also a good move for the club. In case of another successful season, Nice could benefit from a profit by selling Balotelli’s last year of contract.

On a personal level, Balotelli’s choice is the right one. First of all, a bit of stability in a tumultuous career won’t hurt him. Nothing better than staying with the club that gave him a fresh start to bounce back and confirm (jurisprudence Hatem Ben Arfa…) but also to enjoy a good image ahead of the 2018 World Cup. An unspoken but not entirely unreachable goal.

Super Mario will be back in training starting Monday. On Friday, it will be Jean-Michaรซl Seri’s turn to join Charles-Ehrmann. He remains the last major issue of the transfer market, still being sought by AS Roma among others. But Nice won’t let him go for less than 40 million.

Along the same lines, Valentin Eysseric is still desired by Fiorentina. The Gym is asking for 5 million while Fiorentina offers half. Finally, Albert, Franck Honorat, Dorian Caddy, Mouez Hassen, Simon Pouplin, and Saรฏd Benrahma are no longer part of the club’s plans and will not be retained if an interesting offer comes in (source Nice-Matin).
