“Mars aux Musées” (March at the Museums), when students take over the museums

Latest News

“March at the Museums” is a unique initiative in France that grows year by year. This event is organized by the MICA association (Mediators and Cultural Engineering Associates), a fine team composed of 21 members, all students from the Master 2 Professional program in Mediation and Cultural Engineering (MIC). Created on their initiative and that of the Department of Culture of the University of Nice and the City of Nice, “March at the Museums” aims to draw young people into museums. Every year since 2001 during the month of March, the museums of Nice become the favorite meeting points for students and young people under 26 because they are free at any time of the day and every day of the week! A great opportunity to bring together art enthusiasts as well as occasional or regular spectators.

This year, “March at the Museums” offers an ever more eclectic program, “at the crossroads of the arts” (music, dance, theater…) through cultural and festive events (night events, concerts, exhibitions, performances…) and educational activities (off-site classes).

The “freeze” at the inauguration

It is on Sunday, March 1st at noon that the kickoff of “March at the Museums” will be given with a “freeze” at Place Masséna. A crowd will freeze and turn into statues for five minutes. The next day, on the Carlone campus (Faculty of Letters), the graffiti for the event will be created by the graffiti artist David Sanaa in the presence of the Bib Bang Musicology of the University. At 7 PM, the band “The Boogie Men” will participate in the opening night at the Masséna Museum. Christian Estrosi will speak around 8 PM.

Until the end of the month, find forty cultural activities consisting of visits to the city’s museums, performances, concerts, or film screenings and take… a cultural bath!
