This evening, the Caisse d’Épargne in Masséna, Nice, opens its doors to the 18th edition of the Mediterranean Photography Festival. It is also on this occasion that the Sept Off awards, designed with the goal of promoting local photography and the work of promising young photographers, will be presented.
The offices emptied, the tables pushed aside, the chairs removed… the Caisse d’Épargne bank in Masséna transforms, for the evening, into a true art gallery.
Two photographers, Marcel BATAILLARD and Pascal BONNEAU, have come to exhibit their work to curious visitors. Some photos were taken with cameras, others captured on Japanese paper. All to highlight original and passionate artists.
Every year, the Festival offers exhibitors the opportunity to develop their personal works thanks to two prizes funded by the Caisse d’Épargne Côte d’Azur: The Willoughby Prize (€1000) and the Lucien Clergue Prize (€1500).
However, the prize winners could not be present this evening due to bad weather. Nevertheless, their names were announced. The second prize (Willoughby) is awarded to Adrien BASSE-CATHALINAT, a young photographer, 26 years old, for his exhibition “La linea”. The first prize (Lucien Clergue) is won by Jef BONIFACINO for his exhibition “Vorkouta”. Finally, a printing prize was awarded to photographer Sandra MEHL.
The bank organizes such a festival each year because the establishment is committed to the field of culture. “This year, 85,000 euros have been invested by the Caisse d’Épargne in the cultural sector to support and encourage artists.”
