Residents who are evolving daily in the heart of this metropolis that is gradually losing its generous soul,
Together, we can make a difference.
The interests of the citizens of Nice must once again be placed at the center of all political decisions because the only thing that matters is the interests of the Niçoises and Niçois.
Local democracy is the foundation of the proper functioning of a community and social cohesion.
Our leaders, powerless against the daily malaise, are viscerally neglecting their citizens, abandoning them to pessimism.
The people of Nice want to escape the gloom that, day by day, haunts the arteries of their city.
Restoring a democracy that stands up to reality in our neighborhoods, which are emptying of their souls a little more every day, is far from easy. However, I ask you to imagine the contours of a city of Nice that, by respecting its inhabitants, would respect itself and thus open up new perspectives.
Nice must no longer be strangled by a municipality that stifles it and has undermined the social cohesion of its neighborhoods and territories for decades.
Nice must no longer be abandoned to dubious political practices that poison its citizens and the defenders of social peace in the locality. The voice must be returned to Nice and the Niçois for the well-being and living together in the times to come.
Nice must be the symbol of a decentralized and democratic France that reconnects with the progressive ideas that form the foundation of French pride, these values of Justice, Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity.
Nice can become the symbol of a modern and dynamic France, moving in tune with these universal values that make it shine around the world because Nice, through its history, has always been a land of respect, peace, and openness to others. Historians cannot contradict me; Garibaldi, child of the port of Nice and hero of two worlds, fully legitimizes these aspirations.
Let’s rebuild together this haven of peace, this little paradise blessed by the gods that once allowed man to stand on two legs and raise his arms to the sky.
Let’s revive together this Terra Amata so that tomorrow we can see the joy of living on all faces.
Together, let’s rebuild Nice in the image of the values of this great country, France.
That is why, on this solemn day of November 24, 2007, the day of the official inauguration of the Tramway in Nice, I am calling upon all Niçoises and Niçois filled with daily aspirations repressed by time, not to lose hope that one day a respected and finally respectful Niçois Municipality will come into being because another way of doing politics in Nice is possible.
It is clear that the purely electoral interests of some have harmed and will continue to harm the social cohesion of the Niçois country.
I therefore call on the defenders of a Democratic Nice in their diversity, whatever their affiliations and political aspirations, to come share a glass of hope together on Saturday, November 24, 2007, at 5 PM at the Distilleries Idéales in Old Nice.
