At the beginning of the week, the visit to the work of the Fourneau Économique with the Alpes-Maritimes department took place.
The service starts at 11:45 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. and accommodates 120 people. The solidarity restaurant is open four days a week — Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The dining room has 80 seats. The public wishing to take advantage of the solidarity restaurant can serve themselves for free or give a small contribution of 1€ or meal vouchers that can be obtained from partners.
The work of the Fourneau Économique collaborates with the food bank for product supply. Therefore, the cost of meal production is less than 7€. The public does not necessarily have the same meal; there are several services in the day with different menus.
The work of the Fourneau Économique relies on between 50 and 60 volunteers and two employees with the cook. Sixty volunteers rotate with ten volunteers per service. There are no selection criteria; any person in need who wants to enjoy the restaurant can access it. “We do it with a big heart”, says the association’s director, Philippe Mangiapan. However, the association does not accept minors, only certain families with parents and children.
