To discover the lighting of artworks intended to accompany line 1 of the tramway and discuss them with their creators, the Nice Côte d’Azur Urban Community invites you to meet on Wednesday, November 7, at 6:30 PM at the Bon Voyage Sports and Leisure Center (2, Pont René Coty).
Organized as a theme along line 1, these meetings begin with the Nice artist Ben, creator of the “Aphorisms” that adorn the 21 tramway stations, and Jacques Vieille, designer of the “Dizzying Opalescent Palm Tree” installed at the Pont Michel station (Bon Voyage district).
The public presentations of the artworks start on Wednesday and continue until November 21. These events are invitations to meet the creators of these works, allowing them to present their work to the public in a friendly dialogue.
Saturday will see the inauguration of the Tramway Operational Center at Las Planas, Nice Nord, at the start of line 1. Beyond a simple “depot,” it is the true nerve center of the tramway, both the heart and brain of line 1. It is from the central building called the Centralized Command Post – PCC – that all the information useful for live traffic management of the tramway as well as buses is sent and received. Its position at the head of line 1 makes it a true “multimodal” hub, a connection point between various modes of transportation: park-and-ride facilities for cars, and bus and tramway stations.
The 20 tramway carriages of the Nice Côte d’Azur Urban Area are already stationed there, and in a few days, the works will be completely finished.
Program:
-10:30 AM: Official ceremony.
Visit of the tramway operational center and christening of the carriages.
-1:30 PM / 5:30 PM: Open house for the general public.
