The Venanson Meetings will allow us to go back in time, for a weekend, this Saturday, June 7, and Sunday, June 8.
At the origin of this event is the public screening of a film* which is the result of 2 years of interviews with the village’s inhabitants: the “elders” who recount life in Venanson in the past, the “active” ones who talk to us about the present, and the “young” ones who envision their future in the country.
An exhibition of old photos will present 3 themes in 3 different exhibition locations: “Venanson through the Ages” in the town hall room, “Festivals and Traditions” in the room near the church, and “Scenes of Daily Life” in the association’s hall. The exhibitions will be open from 10 AM to 6 PM.
For children, carriage rides and pony rides with Nadรจge from the Cheval de Vent association are planned.
For adults, the program includes a round table (in the hall near the church at 4:30 PM) on the theme “Between Memory and Forgetting: A Matter of Humanity”. The discussion will include Mr. Bornancin, a neurobiologist, J-L. Puricelli, a psychologist, and C. Montserrat, a philosopher.
Stalls and demonstrations in different village squares from 10 AM to 6 PM will showcase local crafts and ancient trades: millennial wood (G. Tordo), sculpture (P. Poggioli) calligraphy (D. Buchez), woodworking (M. Thibault, F. Fenocchio), basketry (C. Plent), beekeeping (A. Mereaux, P. Jaume), sheep shearing (D. Laugier), farriery (JM. Parilla) (Saturday), carding and spinning wool (L. A sale of local producers will allow visitors to reconnect with farm products: goat cheese and donkey milk soaps (C. Guigonis), cow cheese (JF. Cornillon), saffron (M. Cassard and C. Marro), honey soaps (V. Tollardo).
The communal oven will be used for wood-fired cooking overseen by G. Martin with the production and sale of bread (Saturday) and meal preparation (Sunday).
On the entertainment side, music will be in the spotlight with demonstrations of the “trignoรน” from the village while musical entertainment in the village streets by the group Li Arundela will take place on Saturday afternoon.
Finally, the traditional Baleti animated by the group Tchatchao will be held under the tent on Sunday starting at 9:30 PM.
During the two days of the event, the most curious will have the opportunity to climb into the bell tower in small groups to view the beautiful panorama from above.
