The date is approaching. The organizers are stressed but remain confident. The show will start at 9:30 PM. Polynesian songs, drum and percussion sounds, it will all be at the Palais de l’Europe. Young Tahitians from Nice and Menton will present a “show.” The dances and choreographies are directed by Vaiana Manutahi, the dance director of the Tiare Tahiti association. “Rehearsals have been underway since September,” says Nina Lopez, a young dancer in the troupe. It is in Menton itself that they gather every weekend to prepare for the show awaited by the French public.
As every year, seats are limited and the entry is 15 euros per person. A welcome punch will be offered. Starting at 8 PM, the public can dine and enjoy Tahiti’s exotic dishes. On the menu: raw fish in coconut milk, pork cooked in the Tahitian style, coconut flan… meal tickets will be sold on-site. People who have already reserved and paid for their seats will receive an envelope at the entrance.
Finally, the event will be concluded with a 100% Polynesian dance party. Fans of local Tahitian dance will be welcome on the dance floor. And this year, a novelty, a craft stand (jewelry, mother-of-pearl, pearls, pareos…) and a tattoo artist will be available to the public.
