Another victory for the Cofidis team just a few days after Victor Lafay’s success on the slopes of Guardia Sanframondi during the 8th stage of the Giro.


The race lived up to its promises and, despite the health measures, was a great success with the public. Guillaume Martin was the favorite for the race. The Cofidis climber perfectly fulfilled his role and claimed victory at the summit of Col de Valberg, becoming the first winner of the Mercan’Tour Classic Alpes-Maritimes after 143 km of racing (the start of the event was shortened by 30 kilometers for safety reasons).

The best French rider of the last Tour de France (11th), propelled by his teammate Anthony Perez, attacked six kilometers from the finish and won ahead of Aurélien Paret-Peintre (AG2R-Citroën) and Bruno Armirail (Groupama-FDJ), who crossed the line 1’40” behind.

Only 47 out of the 111 engaged riders finished the race within the time limits.
