Metro-tram (line 2): First site visit to the underground station Durandy

Latest News

This Wednesday, the Durandy tram station hosted its first site visit after about two years of construction. Christian Estrosi took the opportunity to review the progress of the work.

The Durandy station is located under the square of the same name, very close to the Romain Gary library. It is situated between the Garibaldi and Jean Mรฉdecin stations, the two that connect with Line 1. The square above the station will be completely redeveloped, and all the furniture from the old square has been preserved by the City.

Christian Estrosi, president of the metropolis, presented the design of this station, which matches that of the other three underground stations.

Underground, five signs explain how the work is being conducted and the concept of building an underground station. The visit took place in the technical areas and not on the platforms themselves, as their construction is not yet complete.

Indeed, nearly two years of work remain before all the stations and the entire Line 2 will be completed.

“I am pleased to finally announce that the delivery schedule for Line 2 will be respected,” congratulated Christian Estrosi.

The schedule is as follows:
o Mid-2018, opening of the Cadam/Magnan section
o End of 2018, opening of the Cadam-Airport/Jean Mรฉdecin section,
o Summer 2019, opening of the line up to Garibaldi,
o Autumn 2019, full opening of the line up to the port

“The Durandy underground station is the most advanced at this stage of the work,” also noted the former mayor of Nice.
