Metropolitan hub in the west of the department: a whim of the local mayors! (according to the National Front)

Latest News

The three agglomerations (Sophia Antipolis, Cannes Pays de Lรฉrins, Pays de Grasse) are coming together to form the new metropolitan hub in the west of the department. A new administrative layer? In any case, it will certainly become one.

Indeed, this new political adventure desired by the three western sorcererโ€™s apprentices (Lรฉonetti, Lisnard, and Viaud) will distance citizens from major decision-making. The people of Antibes, Cannes, and Grasse did not vote for a conglomerate of municipalities!

If this metropolis follows the model of Nice, it will strip our municipalities of all autonomy. If tomorrow the metropolis decides and acts, our mayors will no longer be independent but subject to the will of the new president of the metropolis. Our fellow citizens will no longer be sovereign but mere spectators.

As a municipal councilor of Antibes since 2014, there has never been any consultation with the elected officials about this metropolitan hub. Were those from other municipalities consulted? This is further proof that this administrative layer intends to be established without the people and their consent. With the National Front, we express our opposition to this new project; we prefer to focus on the municipalities which alone know what is right for their citizens.
