It was yesterday that the famous actor, several times nominated for an Emmy Award for his outstanding performances in the iconic cult series “The Wire” and “Boardwalk,” was found lifeless in his home.


“It is with deep sadness that his family announces the death of actor Michael Kenneth Williams (…). They ask you to respect their privacy during the mourning of this insurmountable loss,” said the relatives of the 54-year-old actor in a message sent to his agent.

Dead in his apartment in Brooklyn (according to the New York police), no details were released concerning the case. Yet, several media outlets have suggested the hypothesis of an overdose, citing police sources.

Michael K. Williams, no longer needs an introduction; he won the hearts of series fans by playing the character of Omar, recognized as one of the most striking protagonists of the series “The Wire”. Omar Little, one of the most violent and feared criminals, roams the streets of Baltimore, dressed in a long coat and with a weapon in his hand. The portrayal of this homosexual and solitary criminal was praised as a magical performance.
