Watch out, it’s going to explode! For this surprising installment, Michal has surrounded himself with lyrics by Patrice Guirao (“What Beautiful Hope”), Axelle Renoir (“Free”), Virginie Vannier (“And the World”) and Sylvie Bonnet (“Duel”). A certain Luka composed the album’s single for him: “All alone with your face”. Michal also contributed his own writing.
While waiting for his autograph session at the Fnac in Nice scheduled for Saturday, March 10th at 11 am with Laam, Nice-Premium invites you to discover a new Michal in a “rock’n roll” vibe!
Nice-Premium: Yesterday, in your first album “Gold and Dust”, you presented “the image of the nice guy glued to his piano”. Today, with your second opus “All alone with my face”, you are showing us a new Michal!
Michal: A Michal with different musical desires, that’s for sure.
Nice-Premium: A Michal much more Rock’n’Roll indeed!
Michal: Rock, punk, new wave music has always been part of my musical culture, I really wanted it to be heard on this record.
Nice-Premium: These twelve pop-rock tracks tinged with electro, in a very 80s style and in line with Indochine, Depeche Mode, and Etienne Daho, does that correspond to your current state of mind?
Michal: Absolutely. Musically but also in terms of the lyrics.
Nice-Premium: How was this album constructed?
Michal: The trigger was meeting Luka and Pavle Kovacevic (the composer and the producer). These are people who are fearless, who like the same things as me so it was easy to make this album as I wanted.
Nice-Premium: On the cover, you pose with a synth guitar, barefoot, a sign of freedom but the wire of the musical instrument connects you to the ground and a rope pulls you towards the sky. “Free” or “Chained”?
Michal: I like this analysis!! Both I think. I aspire to freedom but there are things that prevent me. “That’s what they tell me you say” for example (the title “that”).
Nice-Premium: In your first single “All alone with my face”, you say “one day you will end up alone”, is it addressed to someone in particular?
Michal: Not anymore. I simply think back to a lot of people I wanted to say it to but didn’t dare…
Nice-Premium: It seems you shot the video for this song in the Olympia’s Billiard Room?
Michal: In the Billiard Room of the Olympia. A great honor for me!! Moreover, this room is listed. And it’s the first time a music video was shot there.
Nice-Premium: The second song on the album “The Day Will Come Again” is a song of hope?
Michal: It’s mostly a song where I address my brother who was shaken by my departure 5 years ago. It’s a song of hope, of love… Everything I wish for his future.
Nice-Premium: Have you ever been hurt by “what they tell me you say”?
Michal: Of course!! I try to be less and less sensitive to all that but it’s not easy. Moreover, it’s mostly my entourage who suffers so it’s difficult not to think about it.
Nice-Premium: You close your album with a song in Polish “Scorpion”, has it become a “rite”?
Michal: Yes!! lol It’s important for me to sing in Polish. Moreover, I often say that this disc is very complete and reflects my personality well. It would be strange if there were no song in Polish.
Nice-Premium: “Being”? How would Michal like to “Be”?
Michal: I like being as I am. I am not entirely at ease, I always have some anxieties but I like them and I could not be happy without them. lol
Nice-Premium: And to end, shall we meet at the FNAC in Nice on Saturday, March 10th?
Michal: I can’t wait!! Come in droves!!! Thank you!
