Michel Tschann, President of the Nice Côte d’Azur Hotel Union, informs us in a statement that:
2010 sees the crisis easing: the first 6 months of 2010 were significantly better than in 2009, notably due to major congresses, including the France-Africa summit.
The months of July and August last year were good, and this year they promise to be better with an increase of about 5/6% in city centers, and stability or even a decrease outside the cities and especially in our magnificent hinterland, which unfortunately was not very visited in July.
August also promises to be good with a notable return of Italian clients.
The main reasons are due to the drop in the Euro, which has made our prices cheaper for our British, American, Japanese, and Russian clients, and the multitude of events on the Côte d’Azur: from Ironman to Prince, including baroque music in Menton and jazz in Nice and Juan-les-Pins.
The British market, the main client of the coast, is slightly declining, however, there is a clear return of Americans, Russians, and Japanese.
Autumn and winter look promising, thanks again to the drop in the Euro, a resumption of corporate seminars, and congresses in an Acropolis undergoing renovation.
