Located at 26 rue Saint-François de Paule, just steps from the Promenade des Anglais, a space of over 300 square meters hosts an unprecedented digital cultural offering.
As part of the SMART DEAL policy, this space is entirely dedicated to innovation, creation, and cultural dissemination. Free and open to all, the Micro-Folie in Nice consists of different sections.
The first large room is dedicated to virtual reality. Virtual reality headsets are available for self-service. From a visit to Notre-Dame de Paris to an interview with the Mona Lisa, the immersive experiences offered are particularly varied. Take a few steps forward and you will find the “Digital Museum“, the centerpiece. It allows a wide audience to discover a new collection of artworks on a large screen every day. Equipped with tablets, it is therefore possible to interact directly with the large screen.
Upstairs, dive into Klein blue to escape through a wide selection of art books in the “Biblio’art”. Then, let your curiosity lead you to the “Fablab”. This digital creation workshop roars with its 3D printers and laser cutter. It will leave you speechless! Finally, the “Art Box” is the place for exhibitions and events at this Micro-Folie. It is hosting artworks by Mathilde Oscar until the end of August.
A national initiative serving the regions
This innovative concept, driven by the State, allows for the national development of the digital cultural offering. Supervised by the Ministry of Culture and supported by La Vilette (Paris), this system integrates a “digital museum” at the heart of a space dedicated to culture. Deeply social, this concept is part of an approach to democratize culture. The Micro-Folie in Nice, established since 2021, supports children from primary to middle school throughout the year. They enrich their artistic and digital culture in a fun way. Outside school periods, various recreation centers in the city of Nice take over the premises. However, they are not the only ones drawn to this unique space. Families, tourists, and young people are increasingly crossing the threshold of this Micro-Folie. The more the merrier; the more we geek!
