Apparently pleased with their success last week when they took a first group of migrants to Nice to carry out administrative procedures for asylum applications, a second group traveled the same route yesterday, from Breil to Nice, to repeat the same operation.
Accompanying them were members of the Roya Citoyenne association led by David Nakache and Loรฏc Le Dall, in the absence of the now well-known Cรฉdric Herrou, the “Gandhi of the Roya,” who walked the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival’s closing night on Sunday and who now has taken a backseat to these minor events. He is now a celebrated figure, and his ego has inflated like a hot air balloon!
They went to the Pada Forum Rรฉfugiรฉs, an association approved by the Ministry of the Interior, but the administrative processing times do not allow for the quick registration of all applicants.
The migrants thus have to wait an additional one or two days, provoking a reaction from activist groups who want the public authorities and the Prefecture to “acknowledge the responsibilities that are theirs and from which they are abdicating, onto simple citizens and associations.”
And each time, the problem arises of finding overnight accommodation for these unfortunate people.
Now that the Roya Citoyenne activists have found a loophole in the legislative system, will they continue with forceful actions one after the other?
The ostrich policy of the French government is certainly not the solution, nor is the stance of local authorities who condemn but offer nothing.
The problem persists in all its severity and calls for a concerted action from all those who have the duty to address it.
Weโre not going to let a modest figure like Cรฉdric Herrou, whose fame has given him wings, become the master of the situation!
