The Urmis and the Observatory of Migrations in the Alpes Maritimes are organizing a conference-debate this Tuesday around the book by journalist Raphaรซl Krafft, “Passeur,” published in 2017.
An independent journalist and producer of radio documentaries for France-Culture, Raphaรซl Krafft discusses how, in 2015, while he was working on a series of reports about the past and present realities of the border between Menton and Ventimiglia, he chose to “take action” by helping two Sudanese migrants cross this border from Italy into France through a climb in the Mercantour Park, up to the Fenestre Pass, which peaks at 2500 meters in altitude.
Moderated by Yvan Gastaut, this conference-debate will provide an opportunity to engage in a dialogue with the author on the notions of “civil disobedience” and “offense of solidarity”. It will also aim to initiate a reflection on the narration of the border crossing between writing challenges and activist and citizen issues.
