The Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, accompanied by the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Nice, is organizing a meeting between the mayor Christian ESTROSI and the mayor of Genoa, Marco DORIA, on the occasion of MIPIM, the international event dedicated to real estate market professionals, which will take place in Cannes until March 15, 2013.

Nice, Turin, and Genoa

Geographically and historically close, the cities of Nice, Turin, and Genoa have always had very strong ties. The meeting between the mayor of Nice Christian ESTROSI with Marco DORIA and Piero FASSINO, scheduled for March 14 at the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis stand at MIPIM, is proof of the proximity and interest that the French hold for Italy, particularly those from the French Riviera.

The meeting will be an opportunity to intensify Franco-Italian relations and develop new cooperation projects between the two countries.
The Mayor of Turin, Piero Fassino, will also be present.

The Côte d’Azur: a region in constant evolution

The main ongoing project, intended to impact the economic and social configuration of the entire department, is the Eco-Valley of the Plaine du Var: an ambitious eco-sustainable metropolitan expansion project on a 10,000-hectare area, stretching from the Mediterranean shores to the hinterland, along the Var River.
Recognized by the French State as an “Opération d’Intérêt National” (Operation of National Interest), this project will bring, over the next 30 years, 2.5 billion euros in investment, 50,000 new jobs, numerous commercial opportunities, and will represent a model of eco-sustainable urban construction.

The 3 main projects planned for the Eco-Valley:

Grand Arénas: the new business district integrating a multimodal hub and an exhibition park;

Nice Méridia: an urban technopole specializing in Green Growth;

La Baronne: the new agro-food and horticultural excellence center.

Important projects are also planned in the city center. After pedestrianizing Masséna and Garibaldi squares in 2008, during the creation of the first tramway line, the city of Nice gave the “green light” in 2012 to the following projects:

The Coulée Verte: a unique 12-hectare garden stretch in the heart of the city, which will constitute the “green lung” of Nice, ready by autumn 2013. An investment of 40,000,000 euros.

The South Station: a project to requalify and revitalize the quarter by enhancing its historical heritage while offering entertainment public facilities to residents.

The Allianz Riviera Stadium: one of the world’s first eco-stadiums with a capacity of 35,000 seats, multifunctional and of impressive dimensions. An investment of 245,000,000 euros.
