– Ensemble Casimir NEY
Initiated by Elisabeth VANTHOMME and Werner HINZ, the Casimir NEY ensemble alludes to a group of musicians who gathered in Parisian salons to perform chamber music around Casimir NEY, a famous 19th-century violist.
Unlike Brahms, Mozart, or Schubert who used two violas or two cellos, Casimir NEY, along with Dvorak, is one of the few composers to incorporate the double bass in a string quintet.
The Casimir NEY ensemble consisting of two violinists, a violist, a cellist, and a double bassist, coming from the educational institutions and conservatories of Nice and Monaco, operates with a variable geometry.
