From July 21 to August 19, 2011, at the Grimaldi Forum
The Alain-Dominique Gallizia Collection in all its forms will celebrate 40 years of Pressionism (pressure from the aerosol can and the street), an artistic expression recognized as the last pictorial movement of the late 20th century.
This Monegasque exhibition will provide the occasion to present, for the first time to the public, 400 major works from this movement and from the Alain-Dominique Gallizia Collection.
On July 21, 1971, the New York Times published the first article on tagging and graffiti, featuring an interview with Taki 183.
In 1983, Bando brought tagging from the United States to the center of Paris. Since then, the phenomenon has spread across the five continents and to major exhibition venues (Grand Palais, Tate Gallery).
Three exceptional collections will be presented in Monaco this summer:
ยท A rare and unexpected collection of canvases from the 70s and 80s originating from Europe and the United States.
ยท A unique panorama of over 300 canvases created by the greatest international artists and shown to more than 80,000 visitors at the Grand Palais in 2009.
ยท An unprecedented series of works by Rammel-Zee, the great American master who passed away in 2010, revealing for the first time his influence on Pressionism and on Jean-Michel Basquiat, of whom he was one of the mentors.
