Returning for its 11th edition, the Monte-Carlo Jazz Festival will once again outdo itself, with an impressive lineup. National and international artists, from classic rock to pure jazz, in a festive and warm atmosphere at the Opéra Garnier Monte-Carlo.


This musical event will introduce and reintroduce the greatest stars of Jazz and today’s talents. This breathtaking venue, a true temple of music for over a century, will host artists from all over the world from November 24th to December 3rd.

Jean-René Palacio, Artistic Director of Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer, reveals the sumptuous program of the Monte-Carlo Jazz Festival 2016. For this 11th edition, a concert is scheduled every evening from Tuesday, November 29th to Saturday, December 3rd.

On the bill, jazz greats such as: Manu Katché, Richard Bona, Ibrahim Maalouf, and many more.

Lambert Wilson will open the festivities by performing the famous songs of Yves Montand in a musical tribute to him.

On Sunday, November 27th, in a matinée, Angelique Kidjo, famous African voice, will unveil her new album “Eve.” Sarah Lancman will share the spotlight, premiering compositions from her new album “Inspiring Love.” To conclude, she will perform “Qui,” a song by Charles Aznavour.
Malia and André Manoukian are expected as a duo. They will perform on stage in a piano-voice duo format, classics of soul and jazz.

The same evening, Al Jarreau & NDR Bigband will perform for the first time at the Opéra Garnier Monte-Carlo, accompanied by its 18 German musicians from the NDR Bigband. They will revisit Duke Ellington’s repertoire.

On Wednesday, November 30th, Airelle Besson Quartet, a trumpeter, will be among us. One of the revelations of this edition, of the Monte-Carlo Jazz Festival 2016.
The famous Ibrahim Maalouf will make his comeback by performing the most beautiful songs of Oum Kalthoum, an Egyptian singer. Having become an international jazz star, the trumpeter thus offers a blended jazz for this festival.

On Thursday, December 1st, the Wayne Shorter Quartet, an octogenarian, will be the highlight of this edition, showing the Monegasque public that jazz has no age.

On Friday, December 2nd, Alune Wade & Harold López-Nussa will come to honor by performing the famous African popular music. Richard Bonna & Mandekan Cubano will introduce their new album “Heritage” to the public. Manu Katché, an exceptional musician and composer, will play his new album “Unstatic,” with Jim Waston and Lucas Aquino.

To close this festival dedicated to song, Madeleine Peyroux will be on stage, in a trio, as an opening act.

In the second act, the legend of popular song, Robert Charlebois. Having become an emblematic figure of French-speaking music, he will return to the stage for an electro-acoustic concert. “We wanted to give a nod by hosting Robert Charlebois, who is more or less close to Jazz and who is celebrating 50 years of songs,” explains Jean-Réne Palacio.

A festival promised to be rich in emotion, in music, and which will extend across the Casinos and various establishments of the Société des Bains de Mer.
