The Nice native of Palermo blood won the Andalusian GP. This is his second consecutive victory, which reinforces his lead in the MotoGP World Championship.
For the first time in 9 years, Marquez, who had come yesterday despite a painful arm fracture, did not take to the track. But Fabio perfectly played the role of Cannibal, leading from the first to the last lap with a pace significantly faster than his competitors.
Behind him, the other Yamaha riders, the official ones: with Vinales in 2nd place, like last Sunday, and an extraordinary Valentino Rossi who, at 41 and a half, fought like a “young gun,” returning to the podium after a year and 3 months.
Now Fabio has 50 points in the standings and Marquez has zero, but there are good reasons to believe that they will compete for this championship halfway through (13 GPs in 5 months).
Vinales leaves this second race weekend at Jerez a bit disappointed, despite scoring 40 points in 8 days. Disappointment as well for Dovizioso, who remained anonymous and finished 6th at the finish line.
