In a long-distance duel between Bagnaia and Quartararo, it was the Italian who emerged victorious this Saturday by setting the lap record at the Motorland Aragon circuit at 1’46″322, overshadowing Marc Marquez’s mark set in 2015. This is Francesco Bagnaia’s second pole position of the season. Fabio Quartararo, the clear leader of the MotoGP world championship, was unable to outperform the Italian. The Frenchman was even overtaken at the last moment by Jack Miller (2nd), and he will therefore start from the 3rd place at the Aragon GP.
Johann Zarco will start from the fourth row (10th). Like last week at Silverstone, he had to go through Q1 to qualify for Q2. The French Ducati rider is still searching for a new podium finish since his second place in Catalonia on June 6th.
