Right in front of Fabio Quartararo, Francesco Bagnaia secured his third consecutive pole position during the Grand Prix of the Americas qualifying session. Meanwhile, Johann Zarco achieved the sixth fastest time.
Francesco Bagnaia is giving it his all to keep Fabio Quartararo under pressure. He clinched his third consecutive pole position in Austin, following those obtained in Aragon and Misano. On a circuit that had only seen one poleman in seven editions, the Ducati rider pulled out all the stops in Q2 with his best lap of 2โ02โโ781. The work done in the slipstream of Jack Miller this Saturday paid off for the rider who is currently in second place in the world championship standings.
However, the Italian was unable to create a significant gap with Fabio Quartararo. The Nice native managed to do more than just limit the damage in this qualifying session, securing the second fastest time, 348 milliseconds behind his main rival in the title race.
Jorge Martin recorded the fourth fastest time (+0โโ497), while Johann Zarco, who had undergone compartment syndrome surgery shortly after the San Marino Grand Prix, took the sixth position (+0โโ598). Between the two Pramac team riders, Takaaki Nakagami managed to slot his Honda in (+0โโ511).
